Assessment in advance of the renovation of a house in Monaghan town, and construction of an extension, was required by the Planning Authority. One test-trench was excavated. The red/brown silty clay subsoil came up immediately beneath the layer of cement, which covered the site prior to testing. It was archaeologically sterile. No material of an archaeological nature was disclosed.
