An assessment was carried out on the site of a proposed 24-hour lorry park with associated filling station, shop and rest areas at Kilcrow, Clontibret. There was a suspicion that the development site was on or close by to a medieval church and burial site. A total of five test-trenches were excavated within the site. The natural clay, shale and bedrock was exposed throughout the site between 0.28–0.32m below the sod and topsoil. No archaeological features or deposits were exposed and no finds were recovered. No trace or evidence to suggest the presence of a possible church site or graveyard was exposed.
