Testing was carried out at 19 Haggard Street, Trim, as the proposed development lies within the zone of archaeological potential for Trim town. The development plans include the demolition of a 1970s extension and the construction of a two-storey extension to include living accommodation, restaurant and shop and two apartments at first-floor level.
Three test-trenches were excavated across the development site with a 1.8m-wide toothless bucket. Topsoil overlay sandy subsoil which overlay natural boulder clay. Modern dump material was noted in Trenches 1 and 2. A soakaway comprising red brick was also recorded in Trench 2.
Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the testing.
