These sites represented three of the ten sites excavated in Kinnegad Bog, Co. Meath, as part of the 2007 Bord na Móna archaeological mitigation programme. This site was identified in 2005 as archaeological wood and two possible platforms (ME-KDY014, 015 and 016) that were in close proximity. A single cutting was excavated along the drain edge which revealed two short trackways and a platform.
The trackway at the northern end of the cutting was initially identified as archaeological wood but excavation revealed that it was a short trackway orientated north-north-east/south-south-west. It was composed of densely laid longitudinal brushwood and roundwood with twig packing at its southern end and measured 0.33m in depth and 7.7m in length.
The platform was located 1.4m south of the trackway and was dated after the survey to 1260–900 bc. It was composed of densely laid longitudinal brushwoods with two longitudinal roundwoods defining either side of the site. It measured 2m in length, 2.1m in width and 0.34m in depth. An impressive brushwood trackway was located 0.2m below the platform. It was initially identified during survey as a possible platform and was dated to 1510–1260 bc. This site was orientated north-east/south-west and was composed of densely laid longitudinal brushwood that was underlain and occasionally overlain by brushwood transverse elements. The elements were up to five deep in places. The trackway was traceable for 8m and measured 0.98–1.97m in width and up to 0.2m in depth. Approximately 120 worked ends were recorded within this site, all of which had concave facets.
