This site was located within Contract 4 (Navan–Kells and Kells bypass) of the M3 Clonee to North of Kells motorway scheme and was identified during testing carried out by Jo Ronayne (IAC Ltd) in 2004 (Excavations 2004, No. 1345, 04E0913). It was excavated between 20 and 30 March 2007 and contained two areas of archaeological activity: in the east a disturbed spread of burnt-mound material (1m by 8m by 0.18m) cut by a modern ditch and, in the north-west, approximately one-third to half of a possible ring-ditch (16m diameter by 0.64m width by 0.2m depth). The remainder of the ring-ditch was outside the excavation area.
This work was funded by Meath County Council and the National Roads Authority.
