Excavation of Site 3 took place from 4 October to 1 November 2007 in association with a planned housing scheme. The site was one of a number identified as a result of an extensive programme of testing carried out under licence 05E0963 (Excavations 2005, No. 1078).
A spread of burnt-mound material and associated features spread over quite a wide area were excavated at this site. The burnt-mound deposit, which was located adjacent to a stream, overlay two pits interpreted as troughs or waterholes which would have been the focus of activity at the site. A metalled surface associated with these pits was also sealed beneath the burnt-mound deposit.
