Six trenches were excavated at 72–76 Dublin Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth. The proposed development site lies within the zone of archaeological potential for Dundalk (LH007–119) and is located to the rear of five semi-derelict houses along a long narrow strip of land. This land was once gardens associated with the houses.
A concrete surface associated with the yard area of the nearby dwellings overlay modern debris and garden soils at the western end of the development site. The eastern end of the trenches comprised upper peaty soil underlying blue marl. There were some gravel layers observed in all of the excavated trenches. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the trenches.
