Excavations were undertaken over an eight-week period at 9A–11 Magdalene Street, Drogheda, in January and February 2007. The site was adjacent to the medieval pottery production centre at the Old Mart excavated by Caroline Powell and Eoin Halpin (Excavations 2004, No. 1085, 04E0224), which contained nine pottery kilns. On the opposite side of Magdalene Street a further medieval pottery kiln was identified by Deirdre Murphy in the grounds of St Peter’s Church of Ireland church (Excavations 2006, No. 1344, 06E0819, and No. 1180, Excavations 2007).

The excavations revealed a large number of cut features comprising clay-extraction pits, soak-away pits and linear gullies associated with a large pottery assemblage. No further kilns were identified at the site, which was part of the larger medieval pottery production complex.
