The proposed development site was located off Newry Street in Carlingford town, Co. Louth. It was situated across the road from the courthouse and the Presbyterian church. The extension was being constructed to the rear of an early 20th-century house. Two trenches were excavated to the rear of an existing building. Layers of post-medieval and modern debris were recorded in the top 0.8m of stratigraphy. These dump layers lay on natural subsoils. Post-medieval pottery was noted in the trenches as well as modern porcelain, stones and red brick. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the testing.
