Testing was undertaken as part of a pre-planning assessment of a site proposed for ‘Phase C’ of a housing development. The site is outside the zone of archaeological potential and some 700m south of the monastic complex at Mungret. Twelve trenches were dug by machine, which were 2m in width, 30–100m in length and an average of 0.3m in depth. Nothing of an archaeological nature was found.
