Pre-development testing was carried out in advance of a proposed sewerage scheme at Roosky, Co. Leitrim, on 20 April 2007. Testing comprised the excavation of two trenches, one to the north of 037–001 (earthwork) and a one to the south of 037–003 (enclosure). Trench 1 was located on the footprint of the proposed access and pumping station in a greenfield immediately north of 037–001. It was 19m long and 1.2m wide. The ground was wet, particularly towards the west where rushes covered the field surface. The mid-brown silty clay topsoil was 0.35m thick and overlay grey silty clay subsoil with occasional stones. Trench 2 was located on the road (former avenue) to Aghamore House, some 50m south of LE037–003. The trench was 5m long and 1.3m wide. The asphalt and road base layer had a combined thickness of 0.4m and overlay yellow/brown clayey silt subsoil with frequent stone inclusions. No archaeological material was uncovered during testing.
