An assessment was carried out in March 2007 as part of the programme of archaeological works on the route of the proposed M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill motorway scheme. The testing of Site 6 involved the mechanical excavation of a test-trench along an existing road (R433) at Oldglass, a 12th-century battle site. No archaeological features or deposits were identified in this test-trench and consequently no further work was required.
