An assessment was carried out in February 2007 as part of the programme of archaeological works on the route of the proposed M7 Portlaoise to Castletown/
M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill motorway scheme. This assessment of Contract 2: Testing Area 10 involved the mechanical excavation of two test-trenches between townland boundaries. One trench was excavated through the boundary between Derryvorrigan and Barnasallagh. The boundary consisted of a hedge and tree-lined bank; no features were identified within the trench. The second trench was excavated through the boundary between Barnasallagh and Lismore. This also was a tree-lined bank and no features were identified within the trench.
