Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of aproposed housing development at Tobernapeastia, Co. Kilkenny, from 30 October to 1 November 2007. The development site, commonly known as ‘Brennan’s Lands’, is located immediately south-west of the area of constraint around the historic town of Freshford. Testing comprised the excavation of fifteen trenches varying from 50m to 200m in length. The topsoil averaged 0.35m in depth and overlay light-grey/brown silty clay and gravel. Some modern features were recorded in the field located in the north-east part of the development site. No archaeological material was uncovered.
