The proposed project consists of an online upgrade of the R699 from the N9 national primary road to the proposed tie-in with the new N9/N10 Waterford to Powerstown high-quality dual carriageway, to the west of Knocktopher. This report deals only with a 1.5km section between Knocktopher and the N9/N10. The testing took place between 10 and 19 December 2007.
Three areas of archaeological potential were identified during testing:.
AR01 – Riceland (part of), 252233 137418, possible furnace.
AR02 – Knocktopher Commons, 252721 137313, burnt spreads.
AR03 – Bowersacre, 252858 137296, pit.
