This site was located within the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme along Contract 2, Phase 4B, Knocktopher to Powerstown on flat land under pasture and was excavated between 31 October and 4 December 2007. The remains of burnt-mound deposits (fire-cracked stones and blackened sandy silt with frequent charcoal inclusions: c. 16m by c. 15m by 0.4m) were damaged by agricultural activity. The deposits covered a large pit (4.14m by 3.8m by 1.96m) with post-holes in its sides which was probably used to store water. A further three pits were located beneath the deposits (3.18m by 2.08m by 0.61m, 1.4m by 1.28m by 0.58m and 2.96m by 1.78m by 0.8m); four stake-holes were cut into the base of one of these pits, suggesting it may have functioned as a trough. A group of c. 25 stake-holes were cut into the north-eastern side of this pit and the adjacent area. A further group of c. 20 stake-holes was located 1.6m to the north. A possible structure was also noted and comprised 20–30 stake-holes and two/three post-holes which created a double arc with a c. 3m-wide opening towards the pit with the stake-holes in its base.
