This site was located within the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme along Contract 2, Phase 4B, Knocktopher to Powerstown, in relatively flat, low-lying pasture. The earliest features on site were possibly those associated with a burnt spread and comprised three trough-like pits in a north–south row. One pit (2m by 1.28m by 0.5m depth), rectangular in plan, may have been planked; it was adjacent to a circular pit (1.7m diameter by 0.77m depth) which may have represented a cistern or well. The third pit (1.7m diameter) contained a stake-hole and a possible plank slot, suggesting it may have been lined. Three metres to the south of this was a scatter of seven stake- and post-holes forming a roughly rectangular arrangement (4m by 2m). A slot-trench and four post-holes were located to the east of the troughs and may represent a temporary structure or confining element for the burnt-mound type material which overlaid and filled most of these cuts.
The second phase of activity comprised a keyhole-shaped cereal-drying kiln adjacent to a possible floor surface made up of two shallow but large pits and a stone surface. To the west of this were eleven pits of varying morphology and function. Three of these were stone-lined, others contained significant quantities of burnt bone, and two were stepped in profile; one of these contained burnt bone and a lignite bracelet. Two other pits, with charcoal-rich fills, were identified alongside a possible hearth and a small area of metalling.
