Monitoring of drainage works in these townlands was carried out during construction of the N25 Waterford city bypass. This area was inaccessible at the time of pre-construction test-trenching due to the marshy nature of the ground terrain. The road will be constructed on an embankment placed on existing ground levels in this area and will not involve ground- reduction works. The excavation of a number of drains on either side of the road was monitored and nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered. Further monitoring of drainage works will be carried out in 2008.
