This site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. Two oval pits were exposed during testing by CRDS Ltd. An area measuring 225m2 was stripped of topsoil and plough-soil to reveal two pits, a possible hearth and a spread of charcoal-enriched material. Two of these pits were considered to be associated with modern agricultural activity/field clearance, while the charcoal spread and possible hearth were of indeterminable date and await environmental analysis.
