This site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. Testing identified the possible remains of a pit measuring 1.3m by 0.75m by 0.19m deep. It was filled with charcoal-rich silty clay that contained moderate amounts of sub-angular heat-affected stone. A small pit or post-hole measuring 0.4m by 0.18m by 0.07m deep was located 0.7m to the east of the pit. It had a V-shaped profile and was filled by dark-brown, charcoal-rich silty clay.
During resolution in April 2007, an area of 225m2 was further stripped of topsoil around these features but no others were identified. No further diagnostic material was recovered from any of the features.
