This site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. During excavation in May 2007 an area of topsoil which measured 400m2 was removed to a depth of between 0.2m and 0.25m; a number of features were uncovered along with a horseshoe-shaped spread of fulacht material 11m in diameter. Within this horseshoe shape was a circular trough with an oval-shaped extension to the eastern side. It is unclear which trough is earlier, as they contained the same fill and were probably used at the same time. It measured 2.35m east–west by 1m by 0.3m maximum depth. A possible well feature was uncovered 11m to the south-west of the trough. It measured 0.65m in depth and was wet at the base. The top of the cut was wider than the base. It measured 1.7m north-east/south-west by 1.05m wide and 0.3m deep at the south-west and 0.65m at the north-east.
There were a number of small pits and shallow depressions containing fulacht material in the surrounding area. The western area of the site was made up of a working surface or metalled surface. It extended out from the edge of the trough to the western limit of the site. It consisted of small rounded pebbles lying on top of the natural and measured between 0.05m and 0.1m thick. A leaf-shaped arrowhead was discovered within this surface.
