This site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. Six stake-holes and a hearth were identified in the townland of Foxhill during testing in 2006 by CRDS Ltd. Excavation in August 2007 confirmed the presence of up to ten additional features; included among them was a north–south-aligned shallow linear ditch, numerous additional post-holes and a possible cereal-drying kiln. This site is located to the east of, and in close proximity to, a cereal-drying kiln (E2986; see No. 806, Excavations 2007), while KD035–029 and KD035–34/35 lie to its north-east and south respectively and represent an early medieval church and graveyard and two rectangular enclosures. Post-excavation analysis is ongoing, while radiocarbon dating and examination of the environmental remains should provide further information regarding the date and use of the site.
