This site was excavated as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. Excavations performed between 25 April and 25 May 2007 revealed three discrete areas of archaeology: a group of possible cremation pits, a large oval charcoal pit and a rectangular post-built structure. As features were identified adjacent to the trench edge, it was agreed to extend the original excavation area in the south. Prehistoric pottery was recovered from a number of these features, together with burnt bone from the features interpreted as cremations. Post-excavation work is ongoing.
