Excavations were carried out as part of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford scheme, Phase 3: Kilcullen to Carlow. A shallow, segmented linear ditch and a cluster of possible prehistoric pits were identified during testing. A number of fragments of possible Bronze Age pottery sherds and some fragments of cremated bone were retrieved from one of the pits. It is possible that these features represent a combination of occupation, funerary or structural remains. However, further environmental analysis will facilitate a more conclusive interpretation.
