Test excavation was carried out on the site on 25 and 26 July 2006 (Excavations 2006, No. 918, E2044). No archaeological deposits were uncovered in the work. The more extensive test excavation was carried out between 10 and 24 October 2007. No archaeological deposits were located on any part of the site in this work. Recent rubble foundations and natural silt overlay compact till. Waste from the nearby late 19th-century sawmills was located on one part of the site.
