A planning application was made for the construction of 79 detached houses, access roads, services and landscaping at this site, located on the western side of the road to Ballylongford. Testing was required. The lands are located c. 200m to the north-west of an enclosure site (KE010–056). Fourteen trenches were excavated by machine fitted with a toothless ditching/grading bucket, following which the sides and bases were cleaned by hand and examined. In addition, the spoil was raked through in order to determine the artefact-bearing potential of the topsoil. Nothing of archaeological interest was uncovered during the course of testing. However, due to the presence of a peaty layer in the northernmost area of the site, it was suggested, should permission be granted for the development, that all ground reductions on to the surface of the underlying subsoil in this general area be monitored.
