Pre-development testing as part of an archaeological impact assessment was undertaken at the site of a proposed single-house development at Kilnarovanagh, Killarney, in June 2007. The site was partly located within the zone of archaeological potential for an enclosure and a church site, KE057–051(01, 02).
Three test-trenches were excavated, which measured 40–50m long, 1.5m wide and 0.3–0.45m deep and were located in the areas of the garage, dwelling, driveway and percolation. No archaeological features were recorded, while the visual impact of the development on the monuments was minimised by a substantial mature field boundary.
