Testing took place at a proposed development site for a single house at Doonties East, Lispole, in August 2007. There are two archaeological sites within the vicinity of the proposed development, KE054–049, Lissakilleen (also known as Cillín na Lasrach), a ceallúragh or burial-ground, and KE054–048, a levelled enclosure. The former site lies immediately downhill to the south-east of the proposed development site and the latter lies slightly uphill and to the north-east of it. The exact location of KE054–048 is no longer apparent and the original size of the monument is unknown.
Five trenches were opened through the area of the proposed development, varying in length from 12m to 30m; all were 1m wide. Nothing of archaeological significance was found in any of the trenches.
