Test-trenching was carried out in a greenfield site in advance of a proposed housing development. There were occasional inclusions of modern pottery and bricks noted in the ploughsoil. The sandy clay subsoil contained areas of naturally oxidised iron pan development and was truncated by cultivation furrows and field drains. The topsoil contained localised concentrations of loose stones, containing 19th/20th-century pottery, bottle glass and brick fragments. These were found in a low-lying area of the field and appear to have been introduced during land-reclamation works. No archaeological features or finds were uncovered during test-trenching.
