Five test-trenches were opened on the proposed development site at Carhan Lower, Caherciveen, using a mechanical excavator. No features or finds of archaeological significance were noted in the trenches. The developer requested that testing of an adjoining proposed development site to the east be carried out at the same time. The National Monuments Service agreed that testing could be carried out on both sites under the same licence. Four test-trenches were excavated on the site. No archaeological finds or levels were noted on either site.
