At the request of the developer, testing took place at a proposed development site at Baile an Fheirtéaraigh in November 2007. Should permission be granted, it is anticipated that the site will become the headquarters of the local development co-operative, and also be the location of an outreach branch of NUI Galway, as well as other community projects. There are no known monuments within or near the site.

Ten trenches tested the area, ranging in length from 155m to 62m; all were 1m wide. No features of archaeological significance were encountered. Finds consisted mainly of sherds of recent pottery and modern rubbish. One stray find from the topsoil may be a hone stone, and was made from a stone not found in the local area. Nothing else of potential antiquity was recorded.
