Monitoring was carried out at Knocknacarragh, Co. Galway, in the months of August, September and October in 2007. The Knocknacarragh main drainage Stage 4 scheme will provide foul and surface water drainage for currently unserviced lands located in the north-west corner of Knocknacarragh, Galway city. These lands are located adjacent to the upper Clybaun Road, upper Ballymoneen Road, Rahoon Road and Letteragh Road, including lands at Ballyburke and Keeraun.
The development was close to a number of monuments and so monitoring was carried out in greenfield areas and periodic inspections were carried out in other areas of the pipeline routes. No features of archaeological significance were found in the areas monitored.
