Monitoring was carried out at Market Square, Kinvarra, Co. Galway, running from August to December 2007. The proposed development entailed the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a two–three-storey building with ancillary car parking. There are no known monuments in the vicinity of the development. The closest monuments are a church and graveyard (GA113–139), located c. 80m to the east-north-east of the development and a graveyard (GA113–140) that is located c. 80m to the north-west of the development. The development work included topsoil-stripping, ground-level reduction, groundworks and demolition of derelict houses and sheds, all of which was monitored. The finds retrieved during monitoring were all of a 20th/21st-century date. No features of archaeological significance were found in the areas monitored.
