Investigations took place along the route of the proposed N18 Gort to Crusheen road scheme. Site 200 consisted of a ruined stone structure at Gortavoher, which has the appearance of a ruined farmhouse comprising two rooms and an outhouse. The structure appears on the 1912 OS map as a hollow rectangle on the west portion and a solid rectangle on the east portion, suggesting that the west part of this structure was unroofed by that time. The proposed scheme will not impact directly on the site, as it is located just outside of the CPO to the east.

The test area was opened adjacent to the structure at Gortavoher and revealed no man-made features. A thin layer of topsoil overlay pale orange sandy clay natural subsoil, interrupted only where the underlying limestone geology protruded. It was probably this limestone that showed up as an anomaly in the associated geophysical survey.
