Pre-development testing was carried out on the site of a proposed dwelling and associated services at Fartamore, Co. Galway, on 20 July 2007. The proposed development site is located immediately west of the area of constraint around GA016–053, a tower-house and series of earthworks, which may or may not be associated. Testing comprised the excavation of five trenches on the footprint of the proposed development. The topsoil averaged 0.24m in thickness and generally overlay grey boulder clay and broken limestone bedrock. No archaeological material was uncovered.
