Monitoring of topsoil-stripping took place associated with the construction of an access road to a proposed wind farm at Cloonlusk townland in north Co. Galway. The roadway ran from the south-east corner of the site along the east boundary for a distance of 450m. The site of a ringfort, GA044–038, is recorded c. 40m to the west of the roadway; however, no visible surface trace of the monument survives. The stratigraphy encountered in the course of monitoring consisted of topsoil overlying a mixed, sandy, subsoil that overlay a stony gravel in the north. No features of archaeological significance were encountered in the course of monitoring.
