Testing was undertaken at this site as a condition of planning permission. The development is located in a rich archaeological setting around Clonfert and is within the archaeological zone of GA101–029. Seven trenches were excavated on the site, with particular emphasis on areas to the east close to the supposed location of a church site. No feature or finds of an archaeological nature were recorded. The presence of a small number of modern white-glazed pottery sherds indicates that the field may have been ploughed at some time in the recent past.
