Monitoring was carried out at Carrowmoneash/
Frenchfort, Oranmore, Co. Galway, between 4 January and 5 April 2007. The proposed development entailed the construction of the Western Region Science and Technology Park over an area of c. 31ha. Although the development was not situated adjacent to any recorded monuments, the pre-development plan recommended that, based on the scale of the development, monitoring be undertaken of all groundworks. Monitoring was initially carried out in two phases from 4 to 16 January 2007 and again from 22 March to 5 April 2007. Topsoil was removed to a maximum depth of 0.6m in a total of five trenches over the course of two weeks. It revealed a light-grey sandy boulder clay with frequent glacial limestone outcrops.
