Boughil Bog was surveyed as part of the Peatland Survey 2007. The bog is situated within the Bord na Móna Derryfadda group and is located at the northern extent of the bogs surveyed during the 2007 field season. It is bounded to the north by the Shiven River, a tributary of the River Suck, which bounds the eastern side of the bog. Two unclassified roads are located on the western and southern sides of the bog.
The bog is 640ha in size and has 161 production fields. No archaeological features were uncovered during the survey.
