Monitoring of the mechanical excavation of eight trial pits was undertaken on the site over a two-day period, starting on 30 January 2007. Following communications with the DOE:EHS case officer concerning the nature of the site and the depths involved, it was agreed that the evaluation could be halted due to health and safety considerations. The archaeological evaluation uncovered no archaeological deposits within the area of the proposed development.
