The investigation of this site initially involved the excavation and recording of 40 test-pits, measuring 2m by 3m in plan, followed by the monitoring of peat-stripping across the mountain to facilitate the development of an existing wind farm. The test-pits were excavated from 27 September 2006 to 8 January 2007. The monitoring took place from 18 June to 3 September 2007.
The peat, which ranged in depth from 0.3m to 2.3m in thickness, was taken down to natural bedrock layers to provide a hard-stand for eighteen turbines in addition to the nineteen already on the wind farm. The hard-stand measured c. 40m in diameter. Access roads and services for the development of the turbine complex were also monitored for peat removal. No archaeological deposits were uncovered during testing or monitoring.
