An assessment including test-trenching was carried out at a proposed redevelopment site at Nos 117–121 Georges Street Lower, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. Five trenches were excavated within the site. At the northern end a tarmac and gravel surface associated with the carpark area of the nearby Iceland supermarket overlay modern debris and red brick associated with older tenement buildings that had once fronted on to George’s Place. The southern end of the development site consisted of large concrete blocks intermixed with modern rubble, clay and service pipes. This material was largely deposited during the demolition of the buildings that had previously lain on the site. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted in any of the trenches.
