Monitoring of ground disturbance was carried out at St Mary’s Hospital, Phoenix Park, Dublin 8, during July 2007. Nothing of archaeological significance was noted within any of the areas excavated during monitoring and no further archaeological mitigation was deemed necessary. However, over the course of topsoil-stripping, a large selection of military garment pieces, consisting of buttons, pins and badges dating to the 1940s, were recovered from the topsoil. These have been retained due to their cultural association with the site, which was a former military college.
