An impact assessment was undertaken in advance of a proposed development at the Garda Headquarters and Garda Terrace in Phoenix Park. A programme of test-trenching was carried out as part of the assessment. The site is situated at the eastern side of the Phoenix Park immediately north of the gate leading to the North Circular Road.

The areas available at the time were tested. This involved the testing of the site of the new garda fleet-management garage. Five test-trenches, 1.5m in width and totalling an overall length of 111m, were excavated to the natural subsoil. No features of archaeological significance were identified.
