On foot of recommendations made in an assessment of this site carried out by Sinéad Phelan (Excavations 2004, No. 554, 04E0138), bulk excavation for the insertion of a basement was monitored. It was found that much of the site had been truncated during the construction of earlier basemented buildings here. Natural boulder clay was encountered at 6.8m OD, which was directly underneath 20th-century fill deposits. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified during the programme of monitoring.
