This final season followed on from two phases of testing and saw the bulk removal of the remainder of the deposits across the site under archaeological supervision. Previous assessments by Helen Keogh (Excavations 1998, No. 139, 98E0441) and the writer (Excavations 2006, No. 601) identified the presence of medieval garden soils across the site, which is notable for the survival of an 18th-century Moravian church on its southern boundary.
The garden soils were mechanically removed and the surface of the subsoil carefully examined by hand for more tangible traces of activity. No medieval artefacts were recovered during the bulk reduction and a scheme incorporating the conservation of the church is under way at the time of writing.
