Monitoring was carried out at the development site of an old dispensary building located at 31 Castle Street, Dalkey, during April and May 2007. The development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for Dalkey town. The ground floor of the interior of the building was reduced by 0.5m and nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during this ground reduction. Some red brick, gravel, clay and willow-pattern pottery was removed from the ground-floor interior. The area to be extended to the rear of the dispensary building was comprised of backfill, sewerage pipes and natural granite, which required a rock breaker to remove.
Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the monitoring.
