It is proposed to redevelop the site of Saintfield Yarns, Main Street, Saintfield. The buildings previously on site had been demolished and some of that material used as a levelling layer and spread over the site. Construction had begun prior to the archaeologist arriving, with foundation trenches dug in the south and the east. Therefore the agreed trenching regime could not be conducted. Three test-trenches were excavated towards the north of the site. No archaeological features were identified in these trenches.
