As part of a proposed housing development in the outskirts of Comber, a programme of archaeological investigations was undertaken in the area of Ardnavalley Park, where eight houses had been previously demolished. The area is believed to lie within the early Plantation town of Comber (DOW010–061). Phase 1a of the development relates to the monitoring of stripping in the original gardens of Nos 1 and 8. All work was conducted by means of a mechanical excavator furnished with a flat toothless bucket. No archaeological features were uncovered during the monitoring and a small number of sherds of post-medieval pottery, modern china and two pieces of possible struck flint were found.
