Phase 2 of archaeological investigations was undertaken in February 2007 in advance of development of lands at Ardlenagh and Lurganboy, Co. Donegal. Although located c. 2km south of Donegal town (DG093–013), the site was situated within the limits of the zone of archaeological potential of the town and therefore an archaeological condition was placed on the planning permission for the development. Twelve trenches were excavated across the confines of the site. In general the stratigraphic sequence of the site was characterised by topsoil, up to 0.6m deep, immediately overlying natural on the crest, slope and base of the hill. A former land boundary, backfilled in the 19th/20th centuries, was recorded along the base of the hill. Nothing of archaeological significance was found.
